Provost Oats
Title
Provost Oats
Subject
Oats, Man, Breakfast, Food
Description
The Provost Oats advertisement in The London Illustrated Times looks like it is saying, eat provost oats and be a manly man! The ad has a picture of a man in a kilt and suit jacket holding a giant bowl of steaming provost oats above his head. We get an interesting insight as to what men may have dressed during this time period in London or neighboring areas. The ad also has saying on the side that say "here comes Provost" and "the Britishers Breakfast". It is one of the few ads that I have come along from this time period that is actually trying to persuade the audience to buy their product. Most of the other advertisements only display their product and where to buy it, but Provost Oats is trying to compete with other food products and convince a certain audience to buy their product over the competitors.
