Title

Students face resistance after taking center court with "black power salute"

Description

During the national anthem at a WSU/UW basketball game in Bohler Gym, a group of students, white and black alike, take center court and silently raise their right fists in the "black power salute." Some portions of the attending crowd boo in response. At halftime, an angry (non-student) attendee confronts and repeatedly pushes an African American student, Ozzie Diamond, saying "I'll kick your black ass." An off-duty deputy intervenes and arrests the assailant, who is found guilty of assault.
