Description
1 photographic print; 3 x 4 inches. <br>Squirt was one of the earliest, if not the first, Washington (State College athletic mascots. Squirt had the distinct honor of being a co-mascot for a time- on a football trip to the state of Oregon on October 16th-24th, 1906, Squirt was temporarily stolen by fans of the Oregon schools. Though Squirt was recovered in time for the trip home, the Washington State football team had stolen a small brown bear named "Toodles" in response, and Toodles and Squirt subsequently served as co-mascots for a period.
