Women

The roles of women and the events of their lives took many turns throughout the Progressive Era. There was an eventual change in the views and dynamic of households and the lives of women. Women were no longer only subject to their households, but becoming free to join the workforce and make choices in their own lives. There was resistance as there were many during the Progressive Era who wished to cling to the ways of old and keep women in what they had believed to be a woman’s place. Women fought long and hard to ensure their rights and grab a hold of the power to decide for themselves what they do with their lives. Many powerful activists made it their mission to break the mold of what a woman should be, so that all women could do as they wished with their lives.
